Closer

"Hey check this out, think we should help him out?” says Ky’mera looking out the window, gazing upon a few grimlocks picking on a dark skinned dwarf.

As Yuriy and Novak step to the window, Ky’s lion lifts her head sensing his agitation. “Novak, we need friends in the town. If we help him out he might be able to get some needed information from him,” says Yuriy.

From deep in his chest like the beginning of a landslide, Novak agrees “Yes indeed, lets help.”

Once on the street the party takes up the familiar battle stance that it has practiced so many times before. Novak in the lead with Ky atop Fall his lion in the middle and Yuriy in the flank, Novak bellows forth "LEAVE THE DWARF ALONE OR PERISH", pointing his sword in a menacing gesture to the thugs.

Not swaying and giving ground the thugs ultimately invite the wrath of the party. Making short order of the party and Ky attempting to capture the last remaining grimlock, Yuriy and Novak attempt to communicate with the dark dwarf with little success. Novak calling upon his mighty god to cast a spell in hopes of aiding Yuriy in communicating with the dwarf, results in a one way conversation. Ky returning sorely outmatched mentions that the last one got away, "I believe we are making ourselves a little to visible here in town, we should try and keep a low profile." With that, they all go back to the inn to get some much needed sleep.

While Yuriy has the ability to comprehend languages he pulls forth the note that the halfling in the Earth Node was carrying. Looking to Novak, “This is a great spell why didn’t you give me this earlier so that I could read this as soon as we got it,” Yuriy states never letting slip a chance to jab at one of his old friends. “The note reads this…

Fadheela,

I have been Delayed. My servents carry the kings bones and all the items of his champions that I could find. Merthuuvial I cannot locate. I shall spend a bit more time trying to find it, but I am sending these on so our rendezvous is not compromised. Please give the vanguard my regards. I shall be along shortly. Xeron.”

What the party can as closely tell as the morning in this sunless cavern they arouse and begin their trek to the docks in order to rent a craft to take them to the island and fetch the much needed black mushrooms with the red spots for Es Sarch.

Walking out to the end of the dock in tight formation, a female darkdwarf in leather armor steps out of a shack and asks their business. Yuriy, ever the silver tongue begins to ask for a boat to travel to the island and several moments later, Fall begins to growl, his nose sniffing in the air, “We have intruders in our midst,” yells Ky!

Immediately realizing that her ambush has just been unveiled, she tries a desperate attempt to fool us into thinking that she calls off the attackers. The party taking each other’s back in a triangle pattern waits for the storm. The veil of invisibility peels away from a pair of dark dwarves as they spring their ambush, even in formation awaiting the attack, the hero’s are unable to adequately defend themselves and receive gouging stabs despite their efforts. Like the volcano erupting, Novak explodes into action causing devastating blows against his attackers. Yuriy strategically executing his cunning attacks that only someone of his training can do, attacks in tandem with Ky and his companion making short order of the ambushers. Alas the ringleader jumps into the water invisibly swimming to the shore, evading the death that most certainly awaited her on the dock.

“Let’s take this skiff and get to that island as fast as possible, and ready your water breathing or walking spells so that if we get attacked we wont drown, some of us can’t turn into a fish and swim away,” grumbles Novak.

After a short ride to the island Ky is excited that he might be able to resolve this peacefully buy summoning his nature magic and communicating to the fungal inhabitants of the island. What Ky gets in return for trying to commune with nature are two devastating blows that almost crush him into a pulp. Novak gets smashed as a result Ky is able to visualize the fungal giants and cast a faire fire on one of the giant fungus people. Yuriy keeping his distance utilizing his bow Ky and Novak eventually overcome the guardians of the black and red mushrooms. As Novak and Ky gently pick the mushrooms, yuriy finds a badly decomposed body covered in fungus. Searching it reveals a small bit of treasure. The party, after inhaling the fog for too long begin to feel the ill effects and advise a hasty retreat back to the Dripstone Inn so that they can move to their next task in order to get that much closer to Ky’mera’s killer.

After speaking with Es Sarch the party believes that haste is the better course and time is of the essence. “We must travel to kill this matron of Dusklorn, Elessarwa. We have little time to find and retrieve your fathers head we must act now."

Traveling to the secret door that the letter lead us too, given to us by Es Sarch, we stumble into a babbling prophet inside the tannery. Yuriy uncharacteristically loosing his temper with the half madman pushes him out of the way. We find the secret door and asscend up the tunnel to kill the matron for Es Sarch. "How do we now what we are doing for Es Sarch is going to lead us to my fathers killer?" puzzles Ky. "I mean really, he holds all the cards. All we have to go o is his word that he will deliver Fadeela to us in exchange for doing his dirty work. I guess we really have no choice."

As Ky is half mumbleing to himself, Yuriy states that just up ahead is the door that the directions lead us too. "I am going to pick the lock and then you guys can charge in. How does that sound," with a smile from Yuriy.

"Just open that door and I will take care of the rest," looking to yuriy.

As yuriy pulls forth his tools to do the job, a few moments later there is a look and a nod from our rogue meaning that the door is unlocked. We get the signal and as yuriy kicks in the door with his foot we begin our charge in the room. At that moment an alarm of some sort notifies the inhabitants that they have been breached and casting can be heard from the inside the room. At that moment the corridor is filled with large sticky webs and Yuriy is caught in its sticky embrace.

"What in Kord's name," shouts Novak knowing that his charge has been stalled. "Fire! We need fire to burn the webs down! Druid conjure the wrath of nature to burn us a path to Yuriy!"

"I cant, I used it in the fight for the mushrooms. Get your torch and light it, we will march to Yuriy," cries Ky'mera.

As the party attempts to reach Yuriy spiders begin to be summoned into the webs. Unhindered by the webs they begin to attempt to make a meal out of the helpless rogue. After a few moments Ky remembers that he has a spell to nullify magic and begins to summon forth the words to make the spiders and the web disappear.

"Help im stuck and I cant get out...," howls Yuriy sorely outnumbered.

With the completion of the dispelling magic, the webs vanish and Yuriy is now able to take the last remaining spider one on one. With the hall way cleared Novak roars and charges in to battle the heathens with Ky and Fall right behind. After a rather quick fight
